After finally reaching the top-step of the podium at the final round of the GNCC series, Red Bull/KTM’s Nate Kanney made the long trip over the ocean to compete in the Sugo, Japan JNCC. The onset of the Comp GP afternoon race saw a heated battle between KTM’s Kanney and former Japanese motocross champ, Tokeshi Koikeda, but by the half way mark the pace proved to be too much for Koikeda. By the end, Kanney had amounted over a four minute lead and happily hoisted his giant, 100,000 Yen check—which is about 9,600 greenbacks.

Switching gears to one of Kanney’s toughest competitors, David Knight added a couple of extra wheels to his usual get-up at the final GNCC of the year. After clinching the XC-1 Championship in Unadilla, the Isle of Man native decided to have a go at racing a KTM XC quad in what was one of his final races aboard a KTM. He’ll be riding the World Enduros full-time for 2009 and will be aboard a new color of bike too. Thanks for all the memories, David! You will be missed.

Speaking of those crazy Brits! What brings retired World Motocross Champions, Current MX GP racers, World Off-Road Champs and 1000 other weekend warriors to the same sandy beach for a single drop of the green flag? Why, the annual Weston Beach Race of course!
This 3 hour test of man and machine in Weston-super-Mare, England, brought out the likes Stefan Everts, David Knight and Josh Coppins—to name a few—and makes for a must-watch video. I won’t tell you who wins, but they are definitely riding orange…

Switching to a little World Motocross GP news; 2009 MX2 champ, Tyla Rattray, was at Perris Raceway, California doing a little riding recently. This year’s world championship couldn’t have gone better for the Red Bull/KTM rider and the future looks bright for the friendly South African. See what his plans for 2010 are and if we’ll get to see him state-side anytime soon.
