July 9th 2009 KTM News and Info

Welcome back everyone! It’s great to have you for this installment of the KTM Cycle Hutt and MotoCheddar.com Blogs Spot. It’s back to business as usual at the Hutt—now that all our crew has returned from National Enduro Race in Upton, WY and round five of the AMA Motocross series in Lakewood, CO. Now we’re back and ready to do some bench racing…

Ever find yourself in tight woods, navigating some technical trails that really test your skills? How about out on the track in the heat of summer? We thought so. While both situations test you as a rider, they severely test your machine as well. Enter the RLR Coolant Recovery Tank. A catch tank that allows your bike to heat up without dumping all of its coolant onto the ground, the RLR system is a cost effective way to keep your bike from overheating and a must have for any serious rider. Fight for your right to ride.
Some of KTM’s biggest names were out helping to raise awareness and money to fight land closures in Montana recently. Russell Bobbitt, Mike Lafferty, Nick Fahringer, Cole Kirkpatrick and Brad Bakken were on hand at the Bull Ranch to ride and offer pointers to 80 lucky off-roaders who helped raise $1500 to fight the closure of public lands. As we see more and more of our favorite riding spots closing, it’s great to see money and awareness being raised to fight for our right to ride—but our work is not done. We need to use this unique ride day as an example, and take initiative to ensure that we all continue to have access to public riding areas for many years to come.

On a lighter note, check out Shane Watts Dirtwise Advanced Instructional Vol. 1 DVD. Shane’s wildly successful original DVD, Dirtwise, has helped thousands of riders become better at maneuvering through some of the most technical terrain imaginable and Vol. 1 is the next step. We also did a full evaluation of the new DVD in our March blog that you can see here.

Kanney Podiums, Summey Excels
Nate Kanney jumped on the podium at the richest race in off-road, the Snoeshoe GNCC in West Virginia. Across the slopes of Snowshoe Ski Resort, the riders duked it out for the $10,000 1st place prize, with Kanney earning the top KTM honors. Kurt Caselli rounded out the top-ten while former Supercross/Motocross racer Josh Summey finished 9th in his first GNCC—not bad for arguably the toughest race of the year!

Blazusiak Becomes the Only Man to Win Three in a Row at Erzberg
The fifteenth edition of the Red Bull Hare Scramble, the high point of the Erzberg Rodeo will go down in the history of major offroad events in Austria. Taddy Blazusiak, riding his KTM 250 EXC secured a historic victory at the race that is considered the world’s toughest one day extreme Enduro competition. Read on…

Reigning Canadian Motocross Champ, Eric Nye, has turned consistent finishes into the series points lead this year in the MX2 class, grabbing 2nd this weekend in Manitoba aboard his factory KTM. We caught up with the friendly Nor-Cal native to see if he is where he expected to be at this point in the season and what it’s going to take to keep that big number one plate on the front of his bike. Always friendly and entertaining, see what Eric had to say…
