June 9th 2009 KTM News and Info

Hello everyone, and welcome to the June edition of the KTM Cycle Hutt and MotoCheddar.com Blog-Spot. I hope you had an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend spent with family and friends on the trail or at the track. There’s been a lot going on since our last meeting so let’s delve in.

KTM 50 High Performance Clutch Basket -After perusing through the laundry-list of products that have passed through my hands while putting these blogs together, I realized that we hadn’t done much in the way of mini-parts. The kids are the future of our sport so why not find a part that can seriously improve the performance of their bike? Mom and Dad will like this part too because it’s something that can keep extra money in their wallet!
The part I’m talking about is a high-performance, high-flow clutch drum that boasts better clutch performance for the KTM 50s with improved longevity. We’re digging deep on this evaluation so click here to get all the info…

Cory Gabbert Excels at the XTRM AMA Pro Supermoto Series.
We’ve got to give a shout-out and congratulations to our in-house Supermoto Pro, Cory Gabbert, for two excellent weekends on the XTRM AMA Supermoto Series. At Infineon Raceway, he battled it out for a rock-solid 5th place finish and followed that up with an impressive 4th place main event ride at the South Point Casino and Resort, in Las Vegas. “It’s gone really well—better than I thought It would go—for not riding supermoto for about a year! I felt good in practice and kept getting better as the days went on. The more I rode the better I felt.” Cory recounted excitedly about the two successful weekends—where he actually borrowed one of his unlimited bikes to his competitor, Jamie Sievers, only to finish just behind him in the Vegas main event.

Great job Cory, and remember to call the KTM experts for all your supermoto parts needs; after all, we’ve got an AMA Supermoto Pro on staff at the Hutt.

Koch makes his bid for the ’09 ISDE

A couple of weeks ago, one of our long time Cycle Hutt customers, Mike Koch, made the journey to the 2009 International Six Days Enduro qualifier in Kansas. It’d been a life-long dream of Mike to race the ISDE and this was the year that he took things into his own hands to try and make it happen. Amidst an ultra-tough, sandy, and wooded course that truly tested if the riders were ready for the ISDE, and through some very difficult weather conditions, he gave it his all but came up just short of making the cut to earn the right to line up at the ISDE, the oldest off-road motorcycle event on the FIM schedule. Congrats to Mike on his valiant effort and to anyone brave enough to attempt one of the most grueling off-road races in the world.

Shock Doctor/KTM’s factory rider David Kamo rockets to another win!
Kamo started out well en route to his second win of the season but battled teammates, dust and a treacherous course to get there. Read on…

GNCC series, Somerset
Adam McGill and Josh Kirkland had another successful weekend at the Somerset round of the GNCC series aboard their KTM ATVs. McGill engaged in an epic battle for the lead in the XC-1 class, eventually landing his KTM in second, the same place he now sits in the standings. Kirkland encountered his own battle, but in the pits, when he and second place rider, Bryan Wolf, collided while battling for the lead. Kirkland eventually walked away with another win and now enjoys a slim, four-point lead in the series. Women’s pro rider, Angel Atwell, won yet another race in Pennsylvania, her fifth of the year.

In our last bit of racing news, a huge props has to go out to KTM WORCS rider, Mike Brown for his performance at the opening round of the AMA motocross series at Glen Helen. He flew in under the radar but came up big on everyone’s screens when he ripped the holeshot from the outside in moto one and soldiered on to an eventual 7th place overall on the day—a great day for the hard-working veteran.

Hydration is Key in the red-hot summer months..
With the hottest months of the year quickly approaching, it’s more important than ever to keep yourself hydrated while you’re out on the trail. Although getting enough fluids the day before your ride is most important, allowing yourself to go without water for long periods of time can be dangerous. Enter any one of the KTM or Moose drink systems on KTMhutt.com. With up to 70 ounces of water capacity, and room for several essential tools, these drink systems are exactly what you need to keep your performance up when the going gets hot.
