The rest of the internet is already flooded with reports of what went down at Sam Boyd Stadium so I won’t bore you with a race report. Like most years, everyone in the industry wanted to be at the final round and they were. The race day vibe is one that we can all relate to and is something that our crew was thankful to be able to take it in. It was also great to meet some of our faithful customers who were sporting some Cycle Hutt tee shirts; it was nice to meet you! Enough about the Hutt, let’s see what’s going on in the industry.

KTM’s Max Anstie ready for the big leagues
England’s Max Anstie came to the US a couple of years ago to pursue his dream of competing in American motocross. Unlike many of his fellow Europeans, however, he didn’t jump into the World Championships and establish himself before crossing the pond to the US; he stormed right into the amateur ranks instead. Now, after grooming his speed and skill on the KTM Jr. team, he’s ready to step into the big leagues, throttle pinned, ready to shine. Come May 23, at Glen Helen, he’ll have his shot with the best motocross racers in the world. Check out this cool little video of Max, compliments of Vurb Moto.

KTM’s Sarah Whitmore will head overseas to race rounds 2 & 3 of the Women’s FIM Motocross World Championship Series.
Round 2 of the series will take place in Agueda, Portugal on May 10th. Whitmore will be riding aboard a race-prepped KTM 250SX-F. From Portugal she will head to Spain where she will compete in the 3rd round of the series before returning to the U.S. to compete in the 2009 AMA WMA Series at Glen Helen Raceway May 23, 2009.
“This opportunity came up at the last minute, but I jumped at the chance to race in Europe,” stated Whitmore. “While I could continue training in California I feel that the experience I will gain racing over the next two weeks will be more beneficial to helping me prepare for the WMA Series than if I just continued my normal practice routine. I am excited for my first motocross race on the KTM – my goal is to finish on the podium.” |
